We have a unique ministry to our community where we can connect into people's lives through Obadiah. You can visit with Obadiah each Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church. You can also visit with him at Scituate Public Library for children's story hour. He is out in the community making scheduled visits to nursing homes, hospitals, community events, schools, private residence and church related events. Obadiah and his team are a wonderful resource for our community to offer comfort and support during a difficult time or crisis situation.
On Sunday March 5, 2017, Obadiah became part of our church. The members of Christ Lutheran Church, donated, raised funds and prayed in hopes of receiving a Comfort Dog. "Obadiah" which means Servant of God, was born on June 21,2015. At five weeks of age he began his professional training to be of service. He has received over 2,000 hours of professional training and now has 9 "handlers" who plan to work with him 6 days a week with visits (when invited) to schools, hospitals, nursing homes, VA hospitals and anywhere else that their brand of comfort is needed.
Obadiah can be seen at church each Sunday. He is a pure-bred Golden Retriever with a presence of peace. Unlike a Service Dog, Obadiah can be petted and has an invitation on his vest saying "Please Pet me!"
